The Smart Grid Days by AUTOMA are back
The ninth edition of the Smart Grid Days, the event dedicated to the world of remote monitoring and control in the field of Gas, Oil & Water organised by AUTOMA s.r.l., will take place from 21 to 23 September.
After two years of hybrid event and forced virtual meetings due to Covid restrictions, the event is back in a completely presential form in the enchanting setting of Monte Conero (Italy) in order to remain faithful to its objective, which has always been to personally meet AUTOMA with its customers by further strengthening the relationships developed over the years.
Every year, the Smart Grid Days event is a great moment of meeting and discussion between industry professionals, and in fact it is now a fixed annual appointment in the calendar of operators from all over the world.
What we expect from Smart Grid Days 2022
Once again this year there will be many talks scheduled with a focus on national and international regulatory developments and 4.0 technologies.

As at every edition, the speakers’ table will be enriched by big names in the industry, starting with those of technicians and engineers from APCE (Italian Association for the Protection from Electrolytic Corrosion) and AMPP Italy Chapter, who every year propose important insights that prompt reflection and fruitful debates, paving the way for new solutions to run into the future and seize new opportunities.
Also present will be many of AUTOMA‘s partners. Among them, the now-faithful Cathodic Protection Co., Kromschroeder S.A., Enagas, Exolum, Fluxys, Pa-El, Vandervelde. Moreover, after a two-year forced hiatus due to Covid, the main South American partner Morken will also return with representation from various Southern Cone states.
Like every year, the event will be divided into three days. The first dedicated to network remote monitoring and control; the second to cathodic protection remote monitoring and control. The third day, as has been the practice for several editions now, will instead be dedicated to the Study Day “A safer, protected and sustainable world” held by the AMPP Italy Chapter. This year the focus will be on cathodic protection and anticorrosive coatings.
Remote monitoring and control of pressure
On 21 September, for the day dedicated to pressure remote monitoring and control, we will have the pleasure of once again being joined by Emanuele Martinelli Energia Media s.r.l. in the role of moderator. The collaboration between AUTOMA and Energia Media has already proved successful last 17 May, on the occasion of the first edition of Digital Grid Evolution – Integrated systems for a zero-emission transition, the new project launched by Energia Media and AUTOMA that looks at integrated, pan-European, low-carbon energy systems, in line with the governance regulation of the EU Clean Energy package.
For the occasion, we had the honour to host Giovanni Vetritto (Department of Regional Affairs and Autonomies Presidency of the Council), Marcello Capra (Ministry of Ecological Transition), Michele De Nigris (Department of Sustainable Development and Energy Sources), Eleonora Riva Sanseverino (Horizon Europe), Diego Gavagnin (ConferenzaGNL), Francesca Mondello (Energy&Utilities Sales Specialist at TIM), Maurizio Scaccabarozzi (A2A Smart City), among others. You can find out more about the event here.
We are therefore confident that our parterre at Smart Grid Days 2022 will also be full of high-calibre names in the gas sector, where we will discuss emissions, with a focus on safety and the environment, SCADA systems, field devices and the integration of different technological platforms.
Cathodic protection remote monitoring and control
The day of 22 September will be entirely dedicated to the remote monitoring and control of cathodic protection, with important speeches by the main sector associations (APCE and NACE) and the fundamental testimonies of operators who, as every year, will share their experiences from the field, giving life to a multi-voiced and multi-handed account of the world of cathodic protection.
A not-to-be-missed event!
Smart Grid Days is undoubtedly an excellent opportunity for training, discussion and in-depth analysis with colleagues and industry experts from all over the world. At the same time, the event is a stimulus to improve the quality of the services offered by taking inspiration from other operators and leading experts in the field of remote monitoring and control in Oil, Gas & Water.
